Grandvert Izu: A Small Inn Overlooking Omuroyama in Izu Highlands

The Majestic Mt. Fuji, a UNESCO World Heritage site, has captivated people since ancient times. Revered worldwide as a symbol of Japan, Mt. Fuji stands at the heart of the Japanese archipelago. Likewise, the “Omuroyama” mountain, located in the center of the Izu Peninsula, is often referred to as Izu’s Mt. Fuji. Situated at its southern base, “Grandvert Izu” is perched on a verdant hilltop covering approximately 2,000 square meters, where guests can enjoy the beauty of all four seasons, accompanied by the songs of birds and the presence of squirrels.

Room Introduction

MOEGI

A serene room of about 48 square meters overlooking Omuroyama.

Opened in 1999 as an inn with six rooms, Grandvert Izu underwent partial renovations in March 2022 and reopened with three rooms. Designed by Toyama-Mizuno Architecture Lab, the rooms are open and airy, featuring natural materials such as solid wood, plaster walls, and traditional Japanese paper. Furnished with cozy and gentle furniture from Hida’s Kinoworkshop, each room is a corner room that allows guests to feel close to nature.

Dining

For dinner and breakfast, we source fresh, safe ingredients from local farmers who carefully prepare the soil in the Izu Highlands. We also directly procure vegetables from the foot of Mt. Mishima and other local producers. Freshly caught seasonal fish are brought in daily from the set-net fishing ports located along the rias coastline of Ito City.
